SearchInform Sniffs Employees for IM Traffic

SearchInform Technologies launched IMSniffer, a product designed to intercept all instant messenger traffic within the network so companies can check that it is being used in accordance with company policy.

SearchInform IMSniffer enables companies to prevent confidential information disclosure, monitor employees' workflow, and control the company’s outgoing messaging traffic.

The program saves all intercepted message history logs into its own database and allows the user to conduct search through it employing SearchInform’s search capacities including stemming, thesaurus, and similar search.

IMSniffer offers various criteria to choose from to narrow the search down. Companies can choose two employees whose message history they want to check or search only through their message history over a certain specified period of time.

IMSniffer consists of a client and server parts. The latter is responsible for intercepting and storing messages into a database and indexing all text data. The network traffic from practically any network adapters including Wi-fi and ADSL can be intercepted. The client part can be connected to the server whenever the user needs to work directly with the messages.
