The third in the list come full-fledge solutions based on search technologies. They are specially designed to serve big companies and enterprises that have literally gigantic databases and are up to their heads filled with various documents and information systems. The technologies themselves, of course can be also used by the home user as well. For instance, a programmer working at home will definitely put this search technology to use in his scattered all over the hard disk data. But that’s the separate case. These technologies usually find their user when a quick and precise search needs to be conducted in a big data volume or when working with various data sources. In that case the pattern of work is quite simple (although it has lots and lots of unique methods of information indexing and query processing): phrase search with proper consideration for stemming and synonyms. This, again, leads us to the problem of human resource: using this technology (let’s say a line of “Humingbird” or “Verity” products, for example) means first coming up with approximate phrases that will make the criteria for the search and will, hopefully, be encountered in the needed documents. Yet it’s not guaranteed that the user will be able to pick or remember the needed phrase on his own, and again, you can’t be sure that the result will be satisfactory.             

Another key moment is the speed of query processing. The quality of search definitely increases when you use two words instead of one as a query, but up to now this feature hasn’t been widely used due to the big capacity of the process. The problem is search by phrase won’t provide an exact similarity of the found documents. And search by a paragraph-long phrase takes too much time and is too demanding of the computing resources. Here is an example: when processing a one-word query it doesn’t make much difference whether the query will be processed with the speed of 0,1 sec. or 0,001 sec., since the user won’t notice the difference, on the other hand if you take a middle-size document, containing around 2000 unique words, the search with proper consideration of stemming (all stems of all words) and thesaurus (synonyms of all the words) and the results, if key word search is used, might take up to half an our or more (which is unacceptable to the user).
