Managing indexes

Managing indexes with the help of Index Manager is very simple and intuitively comprehensible.

_bm34

On selecting some index in the
"Registered indexes" list, the "Index Information" field is dispalyed on the right with a short statistics summary on this index. "Start indexing" button allows to start indexing the selected index. It is strongly recommendable to carry out indexation every time after some major changes to data base have been made. If the information is continuously changing, it is desirable to carry ou indexing as often as possible. It should be noted that reindexing (repeting indexing) almost always takes considerably less time that the initial indexing. That is why reindexing is quite a feasible operation.
"
Start defragmenting" implements defragmentation of the selected index. This process is actually analogous to defragmentation of hard drive. That is why the results are also similar - a higher speed of searching for information due to streamlining the data, scattered in different clusters. To increase the searching speed, it is recommended to carry out defragmentation once in a while.
"
Start analysing" analysis is carried out to reveal the duplicate documents.

The buttons _bm35 and _bm36 in the list of indexes allow to switch places of the indexes names by correspondingly lifting them up or putting down.

Pressing the button_bm37 displays a window that allows to change the settings of the selected index. All the settings represented there are identical to those which were defined at the stage of creating a new index (view the "Creating indexes" paragraph). Moreover, to get access to the index options you should double-click it in the "Registered indexes list".
The button _bm38 allows to physically delete the index from the hard drive, which means that it will be impossible to recover it. Use this button with particular care to avoid deleting a necessary index by chance!

_bm39 - this button compared to the previous one, does not delete the index physically. It simply dismounts it of from the system,so that it is not displayed in the application's index list. But the file itself stays in the same place on the hard drive where it was initially recorded.

The button _bm40 allows to mount the index to the application, which was dismounted by the button _bm39. To mount the index, you should
indicate the location of the corresponding file on the hard drive.

With the help of the button _bm41 you can search
for indexes in the accessible resources, be it hard drive or local network. In the search box you can choose what indexes should be mounted at once, and which should be delayed.

_bm42 - close index manager.
