Domestic search

The program interface is neither flashy not flunky, so it doesn’t take an expert to understand it. When first run, the program offers you to create indexes. It was a bit weird that after the folders for indexation have been selected Copernic doesn’t suggest clicking on anything like “start indexing”, but rather waits for the computer to get idle. You need to rummage through the options to make the program work properly. It would be next to crime not to mention the wide specter of options of setting and automatically creating index — it includes an in-built planner, the option of indexing in the background mode with a low priority, etc.
  

Initially Copernic offers a simplified version of index: a choice from “Documents”, “Pictures”, “Video”, “Music”. You can choose file types depending on extension, forbid for instance indexing of pictures less than 16x16 pixels or audio files shorter than 10 seconds. Copernic can work with electronic mail and contacts from Microsoft Outlook (Outlook Express) address book as well as index “Favorites” and “History” from Internet Explorer.
