Companies Hummingbird and “SearchInform” have announced an integration of HummingBird Document Management (HummingBird DM), a corporate information resource management sphere, with SoftInform Search Technology, providing search for documents similar in their content to the query text. A multi-profile concern group “White Wind”, an official partner of HummingBird in Russia one of the five lines of activity of which is namely realization of corporate projects, played an initiating role in this deal.

Integration of the similar search function into HummingBird DM allowed to extend the capacities of this system in terms of simplicity in use and convenience of solving a variety of problems, arising when working with unstructured information.

SoftInform Search Technology system supports various text file formats (txt, doc, rtf, pdf, htm, html), “reads” databases of the majority of the popular information systems (Access, MS SQL, Oracle) as well as any other DBMS supporting SQL. It’s based on a unique mathematical model analyzing the document structure and selecting similar words phrases and text extracts. When searching, the program gives due consideration to the whole array of words occurring in the document using stemming and thesaurus.
